Q: Who is Dark Depressions?
A: When the name was chosen, Dark Depressions did cater more to the darker side of life providing grave stones, coffins, ritual supplies, and furniture to goths and vamps. While the store has grown to provide a broader range of styles for everyone, the name still fits. The over all theme of the store is still a bit darker than your main line fashion destinations, but the quality of the clothing and accessories is better than most. After close to 4 years in business, the name Dark Depressions has come to represent quality, friendliness, and great service, and the change over too MoodSwings will carry on with that tradition in a more globally appealing way.
Q: I see pentagrams! O.O
A: The pentagram, or pentangle, is a symbol of unity, of health, of faith, and of protection. It has been used by a lot of faiths including Christians, Pagans, Judaism, and Mormonism to represent these things. Due to misinterpretation and missuses of the symbol, people have turned the pentagram into an evil thing. If seen in perspective to what it is, a symbol no different from the cross, or the star of David, then this misconception can be erased.
Q: How did Dark Depressions progress into what it is now?
A: In September 2005, Nonge Koolhaas decided to make some t Shirts. These t Shirts, of course, had silly pictures, and sayings, and were just fun to look through and wear. He began marketing them under the name “NK Designs”. Within a couple of months, Nonge had opened 3 or 4 mall spots selling his t Shirts, and snow globes and gift items he had created. He then began constructing benches, and lamps, and fountains, then opened his first main store on a little plot in Neumoegen. As his collection of odds and ends grew, he began adding more elaborate furniture pieces to the inventory of NK Designs.
About 6 months after opening, he did a full restructure. Moving to store to a much larger plot, and re-building the store was the first step. He then changed the name of the store to better fit the theme of the furniture and items being sold. Soon after, he began designing jewelry and silks, and some other fashion items, and continued to expand the store into 4 times it's original size.
In the fall of 2007, Dark Depressions moved to Rond, with a much more spacious and organized layout. Boots, and Body jewelry and Hats were added to the inventory. By December, it was realized that even this was not sufficient, and the store was once again rebuilt to closer to it's current form.
In May of 2008, Nonge (now under the name Nonge Shipman), met Dove Kumaki, who turned out to be an amazing clothing designer with experience from IMVU, and together began designing clothing, new fashions, new boots, and new furniture. A year later, the store has been re-modeled to fit the new inventory, and the brand has changed to reflect the change in attitude and expanded selection. MoodSwings promises to provide you with the amazing choices of fashion, jewelry, boots, Gift items, and Furniture that you can find there today. Dark Depressions is no longer just a small goth shop selling t Shirts and grave stones. It is now a one stop destination for all of your fashion, home, and decorating needs no matter WHAT style you prefer. Rather you are casual, goth, neko, vamp, punk, dress up, or dress down, MoodSwings has something to fit your style. ~MoodSwings~ Fashion to Fit your Mood. "Everyone has mood swings"
